Lens alternative

A Lens alternative that runs in the browser

Lens, OpenLens and Freelens are desktop Kubernetes IDEs: they work on the machine where they are installed, with that machine’s kubeconfig. Kubepier has a desktop app built on Freelens and, on top of it, a web version that opens from any browser, your phone included.

What the web version changes

  • You see the clusters from any machine, with nothing to install and no kubeconfig to copy.
  • The whole team shares the same clients and clusters, each person with their own GitHub sign-in.
  • On the Team plan, each person only sees the clients granted to them.
  • Your phone becomes an on-call screen: failing pods, warning events, CronJobs and Jobs.

What stays the way you already work

  • Workloads, pods, Services, Ingresses, ConfigMaps, Secrets (by key only), CRDs and Helm releases.
  • CPU and memory usage per cluster, node and namespace, from the cluster’s metrics-server.
  • On the Pro plan: edit, scale and restart workloads, live logs and shell.

Nothing installed in the cluster

Unlike the Kubernetes Dashboard, which is installed and exposed in each cluster, Kubepier Web talks straight to the cluster API. You connect through the kubeconfig or the Azure or AWS account, and the API needs to accept Kubepier’s fixed egress IP.

When the desktop app is still better

Port-forward and Helm chart repositories depend on your machine, so they live in Kubepier Desktop, which runs on Linux, Windows and macOS and is free.
