An alternative to Kubernetes Dashboard and Headlamp
Kubernetes Dashboard is the official Kubernetes (K8s) web UI, installed inside each cluster. Headlamp is an open source UI that runs on the desktop or is also installed in the cluster. Kubepier is a web UI that lives outside your clusters and opens all of them in one place.
Nothing to install and expose in each cluster
A UI installed in the cluster has to be deployed, upgraded and safely exposed in every one of them. Kubepier Web talks straight to the cluster API: you connect with the kubeconfig or the Azure or AWS account, and the API must accept Kubepier’s fixed egress IP.
Every cluster, organized by client
- AKS, EKS, GKE, IBM Cloud, OpenShift and on-premises in the same catalog, with the same table and filters.
- Each client’s health on the first screen: failing pods, warnings in the last hour and usage.
- CronJobs with their last run, failed Jobs and warning events at the top.
- The pod’s RabbitMQ and Azure Service Bus queues and MongoDB health.
Team sign-in and access
Each person signs in with GitHub, with no ServiceAccount token pasted into a login screen. On Team, each person only sees the clients assigned to them, and whoever leaves the team loses access right away.
When a UI inside the cluster makes more sense
If the cluster cannot accept any outside access, not even from a fixed IP, a UI installed in it is the way to go. In that case, Kubepier Desktop for Linux, Windows and macOS also works with any cluster your kubectl can reach.
