FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What people ask most about Kubepier.

What is Kubepier?

A TR tool to see and operate Kubernetes clusters from anywhere: in the browser, on your phone and on desktop (Linux, Windows and macOS). It shows failing pods, CronJobs, Jobs, events and usage from any Kubernetes, organized by client.

Is Kubepier an alternative to Lens, k9s, Headlamp or Kubernetes Dashboard?

Yes. Lens, OpenLens and Freelens are desktop IDEs, k9s runs in the terminal and Kubernetes Dashboard is installed in each cluster. Kubepier opens any Kubernetes (K8s) in the browser and on your phone, with nothing installed in the cluster, plus a Linux, Windows and macOS desktop app built on Freelens.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. Kubepier Web fits the phone screen: you can see cluster health, failing pods, CronJobs and Jobs, and, on Pro, watch live logs, restart and scale.

Is Kubepier free?

Kubepier Desktop is a free download. The web version has a Free plan forever and the Pro (R$ 49/month) and Team (R$ 199/month) plans, per organization, with a 14-day free trial.

Which systems does it run on?

Ubuntu/Debian x64 (.deb), Windows 10/11 x64 (.exe) and macOS (.dmg), on Apple Silicon or Intel Macs. The web version runs in the browser.

Does it work with AKS, EKS, GKE, IBM Cloud and on-premises?

Yes. AKS and EKS join through the cloud account or the kubeconfig; GKE, IBM Cloud, OpenShift and any other Kubernetes join through the kubeconfig, on-premises, k3s or kind clusters included. On desktop, any cluster kubectl can reach works; on the web, the cluster API needs to accept Kubepier’s fixed egress IP.

Do I need to install anything in the cluster?

No. The only exception is metrics-server, if you want usage and the cluster does not have it yet. Kubepier shows what will change before installing it.

How does Kubepier handle credentials?

Credentials are encrypted, Secrets are shown by key only and no connection string is ever displayed. The AI key lives only while the app is open and is never written to disk.

Which AI does the diagnosis use?

You choose between Claude (Anthropic) and GPT (OpenAI) and use your own API key, in Preferences › TR AI.

Why does Windows warn me during install?

The installer is not signed yet, so SmartScreen may warn you. Click "More info" and then "Run anyway".

How does it relate to Freelens?

Kubepier is built on Freelens, which is open source (MIT), and adds the client catalog, pod queues, AI diagnosis and the web version.

Is the web version live?

Yes, since 2026-10-01, at app.kubepier.com.br. Sign in with GitHub; the Free plan needs no card, and Pro and Team have a 14-day free trial.

Does Kubepier integrate with RabbitMQ, MongoDB or Redis?

Yes. Kubepier already shows the pod’s RabbitMQ and Azure Service Bus queues and, on the web, the client’s MongoDB health. Apache Kafka, Amazon SQS, PostgreSQL, MySQL and Redis are coming soon, each with a panel inside the cluster.
